mp3PRO files play too fast

Postby bilbo » Fri Nov 05, 2004 2:33 am

I tried MakeItOne today and like it, however mp3PRO files (from books on tape) play too fast. I am sure this is related to lack of support for lower bit rates but even mp3Pro files ripped at 96kbps played very fast. Have you tested mp3PRO files?

mp3PRO

hi bilbo, thanks for the posting,

I'm going to need to check out the mp3PRO standard to see exactly what differences there are. At best mp3PRO has a smart encoder which still decodes under the mp3 standard, hence why they can offer low bitrates that sound good. If they do follow the mp3 standard closely, then I am planning to implement a mp3 reader class that will allow correct reading, packing and playing of mp3 outside the ranger of 96-320 at 44kHz.

Only question is when... stay posted :)

I have conducted tests with mp3Pro and Nero, as long as the full mp3Pro support is enabled there should be no problems. If you experience fast playback, this is probably because the resulting mp3 file is not 96-320kbps 16 bit Stereo
