VBR support

Postby makeitone » Sat Jan 08, 2005 5:45 am

hi all,

because VBR support is not complete within MP3 Album Maker, or any products I know of.... there are some issues. Specifically in MP3 Album Maker:
- ID3 Tag is written based on the first track of the album
- you may be asked to select the bitrate for the album, this is because MP3 Album Maker does not recognize the bitrate
- currently only support for 96-320kbps 44.1khz 16 bit Stereo mp3's

Please check your codecs, some codecs do not enable all of the high quality features, eg the 'free' version of Fraunhofer will not allow encoding at high bitrates, mp3PRO needs to be fully enabled to use all higher bitrates. Your codec may be encoding mp3's outside of 96-320kbps 44.1khz 16 bit Stereo and this will be a problem when trying to playback.

Tests have been run with Nero and mp3PRO using high quality VBR settings, the files play with no problem in players such as Winamp or DirectShows players such as MakeitOne Media Player

And as mentioned now in the FAQ, VBR albums made with MP3 Album Maker will mis-report the duration of the album.

I hope this helps to clarify the current situation,

many thanks
